Farm and Food Care Saskatchewan Chef's Series Proves to Be a Big Hit

The president of the Saskatoon Chef's Association says the new "Farm and Food Care Saskatchewan Chef's Series" underway as part of Taste of Saskatchewan is proving to be a big hit with both the public and the participating chefs.
In observance of the 20th year of Taste of Saskatchewan, which kicked off Tuesday at Kiwanis Park in Saskatoon and runs until Sunday, SaskTel Centre and Farm and Food Care Saskatchewan have teamed up to present the Farm and Food Care Saskatchewan "Chef's Series."
The Chef's Series features chefs from Saskatoon and Regina and celebrates the wide variety of food products produced within Saskatchewan.
Anthony McCarthy, the president of the Saskatoon Chef's Association, says we've seen a big influx of individual unique restaurants and each one brings its own flavor, whether it's an Italian flare, Chinese-Canadian or straight up Saskatchewan local, it's really appealing to people's taste buds.

The series is in fact a two part thing.
We're doing demonstrations in the day, during the lunch hour and then in the evening we've got the competition element to it where two chefs go head to head and the winner of that advances to semi-final round on Saturday and then a grand finale on Sunday.
I've got 4 different demonstrations going on and then 8 chefs competing, so getting people involved was not too much trouble.
Everyone is keen to try something new and chefs like competition and, at the end of the day, there's bragging rights for that.
And maybe the ones who don't like to compete, they do like to demonstrate their skills and their knowledge of food so that's where the demonstration angle is slotted in.
Really all in all it's been a very good response from the chefs and the public have been receiving it very well.
We had a great turn out for our demonstrations and then last night was the first round of the competition and people really got into it.
They had that live TV experience right there in front of them.
