Farm and Food Care Saskatchewan to Launch Agriculture Month Observance Saturday
Clinton Monchuk - Farm and Food Care Saskatchewan

Farm and Food Care Saskatchewan will launch its observance of Agriculture Month in Saskatchewan this Saturday with a Grocery Store Celebration.
October has been proclaimed Agriculture Month in Saskatchewan, a time to celebrate the amazing bounty of food grown in the province and the farmers, ranchers, processors, chefs and people who bring it to our tables.
Farm and Food Care Saskatchewan will launch this year's observance Saturday with a celebration at the Sobeys Extra Stonebridge location in Saskatoon.
Clinton Monchuk, the Executive Director of Farm and Food Care Saskatchewan, says if you think of many of our different social or cultural events, food is usually one of the main components.

Clip-Clinton Monchuk-Farm and Food Care Saskatchewan:
It is a big part of the economy here in Saskatchewan.
Case in point, you can see when farmers have a good year in this province there's the trickle down effect.
Everything from machine dealers to car dealers to the general rural economy does better.
This province was founded by settlers that were coming here for a better life to actually grow food.
That was their primary source of income so we have a rich history here in Saskatchewan about this.
As we've moved on from generation to generation the amount of the farming population has got fewer and fewer until today, the stats for all of Canada are less than three percent of Canadians who actually have a direct tie to a farm.
So having events like this really showcase the importance of making sure our farmers, the agriculture industry really talks about the food that we're growing and how we're growing it and actually have the opportunity to connect with consumers about that food.
Not only that, let consumers also talk about their food stories, what food means for them and the importance around social events or cultures with food as well.

Monchuk says Saskatchewan has a rich history of agriculture, food production and farming and it's something in which to take pride and talk about.
For Farmscape.Ca, I'm Bruce Cochrane.
