Adele Buettner - Farm & Food Care Saskatchewan

A sous-chef from the Saskatoon Club has been selected as "Top Chef Saskatchewan" at the 2018 Farm and Food Care Saskatchewan Chef Series held in conjunction with Taste of Saskatchewan.
The Farm and Food Care Saskatchewan Chef Series is a black box cooking competition held in conjunction with Taste of Saskatchewan held annually in Saskatoon.
In this year's final, held Sunday, Chef Dana Chadorf a sous-chef at the Saskatoon Club faced off against Chef Darren Craddock the Executive Chef at the Village Bistro with Chef Dana being judged the winner.
Adele Buettner, a Project Manager with Farm and Food Care Saskatchewan, says 12 chefs from across Saskatoon competed over the six day competition.

Clip-Adele Buettner-Farm and Food Care Saskatchewan:
The heats leading up to the final heat provide the chefs with the black box with the ingredients and 45 minutes to create one dish.
With the final heat, first of all they had to create an appetizer.
They were given 60 dollars where they were then taken to a Safeway-Sobeys grocery store.
They had to get the ingredients and a bottle of wine, come back to the stage and prepare an appetizer.
The second element was to create a main dish.
For the entre of the main dish, the judges randomly drew numbers that corresponded with a taste of Saskatchewan vendor.
The chefs then purchased one dish from each of those three vendors and had to repurpose those ingredients into a new dish.
The desert round had an interesting twist where ach of the finalists were paired with a member of the audience and they had only five minutes to instruct their sous-chef on how to plate their dessert.
In doing that Chef Dana and Chef Darren could not touch any element of the dessert.
They could only instruct.

Buettner notes this was the third year that Chef Dana was judged as the Top Chef Saskatchewan.
